Jim Breheny

General Counsel

To help R66 become a recognized leader in its chosen sectors, and efficiently bring to market companies that aspire to make the world a better place.

“R66 has a deep commitment to growing our companies in a long-term, sustainable way. We approach investments with an entrepreneurial culture and the expertise required for operational and strategic issues facing growing companies. Our single-member limited partner structure allows us to take a longer view of investments without the capital constraints other investors face.”Jim

Jim believes in serving our portfolio companies with integrity in a practical, efficient, hands-on manner. He is counsel at Route 66, managing all legal matters for our business and portfolio companies. His responsibilities include structuring transactions, securities regulation, corporate governance, acquisitions, and management of general legal issues.

Jim’s legal expertise consists of 12 years in the securities, finance, and banking sectors. Most recently, he was Associate General Counsel of Goal Structured Solutions, where he structured a unique asset-backed lending platform for foreign students. He also executed capital raises including a tender offer exchange, as well as private securities offerings and repurchases of securities.

While an attorney at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, Jim represented private equity (PE) funds, major investment banks, and issuers. His focus was on transactions with various collateral types in the structured markets, representation of commercial paper conduit programs as lender and borrower counsel, and issuers counsel on debt and equity offerings. Jim joined R66 in 2013.

More on his background:

At R66, Jim’s focus is serving portfolio company needs. It’s critical that his legal support expedite and simplify transactions and address both legal and regulatory complexities. He devotes the time, so our companies can clearly understand the business at hand. Jim’s efficient, comprehensive, yet thoughtful approach sets him apart.

Besides a passion for law, Jim enjoys giving back to those less fortunate. This includes volunteering for the Alexandria Soup Kitchen and food pantry at his local church. He also devotes time to his eight nieces and nephews and is the godparent to three.

Jim has traveled for extended periods, and many of these trips have led to lifelong friendships or simply an appreciation of different cultural perspectives. Unexpected events include swimming with sharks in South Africa, running with bulls in Pamplona, being chased by a camel in Egypt and pinched by a grandmother in the Mekong Delta.
